Learning about colour and shape will help the child observe and categorize what they see and encourage them to define and organize the diverse world around them. Learning about color and shape is a foundation for learning many skills, from math and science to language and reading.

When the child learns to discern the similarities and differences between colors and shapes, he is learning the skills needed to recognize the differences between letters and numerals.
